Workshop Controller/Manager Pontefract £45,000 45 hours pw, Mon - Fri Our client are looking for an experienced Workshop Controller/Manager to join their Vehicle Maintenance Unit in Pontefract. This is a key role ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the workshop, delivering exceptional service to their fleet customers and maintaining compliance with all safety and quality standards. You will manage workflow, allocate jobs to technicians, monitor progress, and ensure all work meets manufacturer and company standards. Day to day, you will be: Organise and allocate job cards to technicians, ensuring maximum utilisation and efficiency. Oversee quality control and compliance for all work carried out. Ensure the highest standards of H&S and taking responsibility for H&S, quality and compliance at site. Manage MOT processes and ensure first-time pass rates. Sign off completed inspections and maintain accurate documentation for invoicing. Report into the Head of VMUs and ensure regular updates with them. Order parts and manage stock for workshop operations. Supervise, coach, and develop the workshop team to achieve performance targets. Ensure health and safety standards are met at all times. Maintain strong communication with our customer. Carry our repair and maintenance of vehicles if needed.Skills & Behaviours Required for this Role: Proven experience as a Workshop Controller or in a similar supervisory role within a commercial vehicle environment. Fully qualified in vehicle mechanics (Level 3 or equivalent). HGV (Class 1) preferred. Strong technical knowledge and confidence working on tools. Excellent organisational and administrative skills, including job card management. Effective communication and leadership abilities.
