We are exclusively partnered with our client - an amazing 5* estate in Slough. This is an exciting time for our client, who are seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead their in-house maintenance team and ensurepliant and quality maintenance and repair services for the estate. This is a Monday–Friday role typically working 8-6 due to the demands of the estate, and the role will be engaged on an initial 2-year fixed-term contract which will be renewed on a continual basis.
Your new role
As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of all engineering, maintenance, and technical services for the estate. This role ensures the integrity, safety, efficiency, and long-term preservation of the estate’s historic and modern infrastructure. With accountability for regulatorypliance, cost-effective asset management, and engineering-led service excellence, you will play a vital role in supporting guest satisfaction and profitability. A key element of the role is safeguarding the architectural and environmental heritage of the estate, ensuring that all works are carried out in line with UK building regulations, conservation requirements, and heritage protection laws. Key duties will include:
1. Oversee all engineering functions including preventative maintenance, life safety systems, energy efficiency, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, water hygiene, and infrastructure.
2. Maintain the physical condition and operational efficiency of the estate, including buildings, guest areas, back-of-house, spa, golf facilities, and staff amodation.
3. Manage reactive maintenance response and ensure timely resolution of guest and operational issues.
4. Lead on vendor management, contractor oversight and service level agreements for specialist technical services.
5. Establish and enforce robust maintenance procedures and engineering SOPs in line with five-star service standards.
6. Develop and manage the departmental budget, including planned maintenance, energy consumption, labour, materials, and capital expenditure.
7. Identify opportunities for cost savings through energy management, predictive maintenance, and vendor negotiations.
8. Ensure fullpliance with statutory regulations, codes of practice and mandatory testing across all building services.
9. Champion a proactive approach to health & safety, including fire safety, water treatment, electrical testing, legionella prevention, and equipment certification.
10. Lead all engineering and maintenance activity in accordance with heritage regulations, listed building consent requirements, conservation area guidelines, and planning approvals.
11. Work collaboratively with local authorities, heritage consultants, and planning officers when undertaking sensitive restoration, maintenance or upgrade works.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will require relevant experience in leading multi-disciplined maintenance teams in a hotel, heritage or similar environment. You will also require:
