The Vacancy:
Purpose of the role
Setting and operating CNC multi-tasking lathes to manufacture components from raw material (bar stock) for our internal assembly flow lines to the highest quality and on time.
Duties and responsibilities
* Setting and operating CNC lathes to produce small to medium size batches of work in a timely manner.
* Inspecting work to Engineering drawings using various measuring equipment and reporting any quality defects to the machine shop supervisor.
* Daily, weekly and monthly maintenance checks on machines, including maintaining good housekeeping standards and 5S requirements, and reporting any issues promptly to supervision.
* Optimising efficiencies through reduced set-up and cycle times, plus tool life monitoring.
* De-burring, cleaning, final inspection, and completion of all traceability documentation.
* Carry out such other duties that may be reasonably requested.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE, or equivalent, in English and Maths Grade C or above or relevant experience.
Technical Knowledge
* A knowledge of operating CNC machine tools.
* Experience of CNC lathes with a minimum of 4 axis.
* Experience of reading and editing Fanuc based programs.
* Competent in reading and understanding engineering drawings and able to inspect their work using a range of measurement equipment to ensure the product is correct to drawing.

* Ability to perform repetitive tasks over long periods of time.
* Safety conscious.
* Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
* Willing to learn new skills.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining quality.
Applicants must possess the physical capability to engage in manual labour tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, as outlined in the job requirements.
Experience
* Knowledge of operating twin spindle machines would be an advantage.
* The ability to work to AS9100 aerospace quality standard.
