The Light Lab is seeking a CAD technician – architectural fabrication to join its team in London.
The Light Lab are specialists in the design, build, and manufacture of bespoke lighting solutions within the architectural lighting design industry.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and technically minded CAD Technician to join our studio in Shoreditch. You will work closely with our team of Project Managers, led by the Production Manager, producing precise architectural and fabrication drawings for our custom lighting projects.
Key responsibilities
* produce detailed 2D drawings for bespoke lighting and fabrication projects – ability to work with 3D drawings also preferred
* collaborate with designers and project managers to refine and develop concepts
* support the integration of design updates and technical adjustments from site teams
Essential skills and experience
* expert working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D essential); experience with SolidWorks & other 3D software an advantage
* strong technical fabrication drawing ability and the confidence to contribute to the design process
* ideally from an engineering or fabrication background, with hands‑on experience creating detailed fabrication and assembly drawings
* experience in metalwork fabrication drawings, staircase/handrails, an advantage
* excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for design accuracy
* solid understanding of construction, glazing, and metalwork structures
* survey and site experience highly desirable, with proven ability to communicate effectively and coordinate changes onsite
* experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Ps, Ai, Id), SketchUp, or Dialux would be beneficial
Ideal start date depending on notice period: December 2025 or early January 2026.
Salary from £30k to £35k dependent on skillset and experience.
