Wood is currently sourcing Expression of Interest applications for an upcoming Project Commercial Manager position to be located in North East England within our Process and Energy (P&E) business. Please note this is not a live position. At a high level, the job objectives are; Maximise commercial performance while managing business/project risk (pre and post-contract) Commercialisation of service offerings to support business growth and strategy Developing teams with in-depth commercial and cross-functional expertise to support the assigned business Ensure compliance with relevant commercial/contracting policies Resolution of disputes/claims and cash collection issues Embedding effective commercial governance and assurance across Project / Portfolio of Projects Managing the tender governance process Manages and provides team members with the general direction in commercial activities during the contract life cycle from input into tenders through contract delivery to contract commercial closeout Implementation commercial strategy for the Business Unit within assigned project and ensures alignment of objectives to the business unit strategy Designing the future. What we can offer: Flexible working arrangements that balance client, team and individual needs offering hybrid working arrangements Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion; we are an organisation actively committed to diversity and inclusion across our business with employee networks committed to giving all employees a voice Competitive salary with regular salary reviews to ensure we are rewarding at the right level in line with the market Flexible benefits package; inclusive of 33 days annual leave (including public holidays), generous contributory pension scheme, private medical cover, 4x base salary life insurance; all of these and more that can be adapted to suit your own lifestyle Commitment to continued professional development; development plans that are tailored to your individual needs and interests Global connections; join experts around the world who are at the leading edge of our industry, shaping the standards of our profession Responsibilities Leads and directs the management of: Pre-award activities including support to the proposals team in terms of performing a commercial review of tender documents, reviewing commercial proposals prior to submission for internal approval, preparing pricing and commercial qualifications All activities within the Tender governance processes Compliance with Woods commercial policies, processes, and procedures (tender governance, financial instruments, contracting policy, etc.) Risk management process including risk identification, mitigation planning, and administration of risk process in conjunction with operations Contractual negotiation strategies for client contracts, JV's, and teaming agreements in conjunction with the bid team and key stakeholders Negotiation of Terms and Conditions with clients and suppliers Main contract administration including timely provision of commercial deliverables (e.g. bonds, PCGs, evidence of insurance), correspondence management, and management of change to optimise commercial entitlements Development, implementation, and maintenance of project commercial handover/plans including commercial strategy, subcontracting commercial strategy, and profit improvement plans Regular project cost analysis/reviews to maximise recoverable costs, minimise disallowable costs, and ensures adequate cost accruals and provisions are in place DOA is maintained, communicated, and complied with Project cashflow forecasts, expenditure, invoice preparation, and expediting of payments, with limited support and supervision, and in accordance with client contract requirements and Wood processes and procedures Ensuring the accuracy of invoices and supporting information/data and maintaining project invoice registers Developing subcontracting commercial strategy in conjunction with Project Management, supply chain, and other functions, as required The compilation of subcontract documents, including main contract flow downs, pricing, and payment prior to execution, subcontract filing/retention of records Regular cost analysis to: i. maximise recoverable costs, ii. minimise disallowable costs, iii. identify areas for cost saving and iv. ensure adequate cost accruals and provisions are in place The preparation, delivery, and analysis of inputs to key contract and internal project reporting requirements and ensure the accuracy of project forecasts Commercial representation in monthly project reviews The preparation and delivery of main contract and subcontract (if applicable) close-out requirements in full accordance with contract requirements while optimising Woods commercial recovery Governance and implementation of Financial Management Framework within assigned project Align project specific commercial requirements with WOOD commercial processes and procedures and communicate to relevant personnel Resource competent commercial personnel Manages and supervises personnel development and training of the designated commercial team Coordination of contract reviews and the development of qualifications/redlines in conjunction with the Contracts function to ensure the balance of risk is appropriate for the associated services and remuneration model The pursuit of Wood's assertive claims and/or defending claims against Wood, as required, and ensuring appropriate interface with in-house legal is in place when required Qualifications What makes you remarkable? Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, or Business Studies, along with appropriate professional qualification (preferred) Knowledge, skills and experience: Extensive experience in a similar role including strong leadership/management experience Proven experience in contract administration including change management Experience in contract negotiations Experience in claims & dispute resolution (pre and post-litigation experience preferred) Personal attributes: Utmost integrity Excellent communication skills, written, oral, and presentation Ability to work as part of a team and manage others Ability to prioritise key tasks and solve problems for the team Ability to mentor and coach direct reports Ability to engage with key stakeholders Advanced user of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
