We are seeking a Digital Forensics Technician to join our Digital Forensic Unit at Nottinghamshire Police.
What You’ll Do
* Assist in the forensic examination of digital devices to support criminal investigations
* Prepare, process and analyse digital evidence in line with forensic and evidential standards
* Disassemble devices and acquire data securely to maintain evidential integrity
* Analyse digital data to identify relevant material and support investigative outcomes
* Maintain accurate documentation of forensic processes for audit and evidential purposes
* Manage the receipt, storage and tracking of evidential items to ensure continuity
* Provide technical advice and guidance to officers and investigators on digital evidence
* Support the maintenance of forensic systems and equipment to ensure operational readiness
* Contribute to team development through training and knowledge sharing
Qualifications
* Knowledge of computer systems, mobile devices, networks and digital data structures
* Experience or understanding of digital forensics, IT systems or related technical environments
* Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to work methodically within strict procedures and evidential standards
* Good communication skills, able to explain technical information clearly
* High levels of integrity, discretion and professionalism
* Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
* Relevant qualification (or equivalent experience) in digital forensics, computing or a related field
* Willingness to undergo vetting, training and handle potentially distressing material
