First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Estimator on behalf of one of our clients.
Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Undertake estimates in accordance with Company procedures.
2. Lead team of estimators for larger tenders, mentoring and developing junior estimators
3. Identify opportunity and risk during tender process.
4. Liaise with the business unit, Bid Manager and Planner to agree methodology and principles.
5. Maintain register of key assumptions within estimate
6. Maintain tender estimate file.
7. Provide indicative pricing support for business development.
8. Obtain feedback from site teams on estimating adequacy and current costs.
9. Prepare estimating \”adjudication pack.”
10. Present basis of estimate and key assumptions
11. Maintain notes of adjudication meetings
12. Close out actions and monitor customer negotiations, seeking amended authority as required.
13. Winning work to meet the Company’s objectives.
14. Developing a coherent and consistent tender submission with the use of key estimating assumptions
15. Developing a tender win strategy alongside the business unit teams
16. Providing temporary works support for tenders and for the design element of design and construct tenders
Skills and Qualifications:
17. Engineering or commercial background
18. HNC or equivalent in a related Engineering qualification
19. Experience in water and civils
20. Proven track record working on tenders ranging up to 50m.
21. Numerate and IT literate, familiar with estimating software and Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel
22. Chartered, incorporated status or similar
23. Confidence in dealing with customers and personnel at a senior level.
24. Ability to ensure all tender submissions are both feasible and profitable.

Location: St Albans
Salary: £90,000 – £105,0000 Per annum
