Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Development Manager to support the land, planning, execution, and delivery of development projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Development Director and across operational teams, playing a key role in new site opportunities, managing timelines, budgets, consultants (including design teams), and relevant approvals to ensure the successful execution of each project.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a key coordinator within the Development team, providing support throughout the pre-construction phase—from site handover to project commencement.
* Collaborate with the Development Director to assist in interfacing with the Land and New Business teams during the early stages of a development
* Facilitate the smooth and timely transition of potential development sites from the Land/New Business team to the wider project team.
* Work with other departments to assist with producing development appraisals, programmes, and working through coordination checklists to ensure timely on site starts
* Assist the Development Director in the preparation and submission of Post Investment Reviews and help ensure Project Close-out Reports are completed, in coordination with the Technical team where applicable.
* Contribute to the preparation and execution of land and build contracts, ensuring that land acquisitions and contract signings align with agreed timelines.
* Support the consultant appointments and coordinating design teams to ensure timely planning submissions
* Help prepare documentation and reports to obtain internal approvals and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
* Source and procure supporting documentation—such as surveys, reports, and assessments—needed to inform the planning process and enable effective pre-delivery design, including managing orders and resolving invoice queries.
* Assist with invoice processing and approvals through the company’s financial systems.
* Liaise with the Legal, Technical, and appointed Solicitor teams to ensure all legal and statutory documentation is prepared and available as required, including:
* Contribute to the implementation of the Group Environmental Policy.
* Manage a selection of smaller development projects under the guidance of the Development Director, providing opportunities for hands-on experience and professional growth.
* Undertake any additional tasks or responsibilities relevant to the role as required.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Property Development, Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
* 2+ years of relevant experience in residential development, project management, or construction.
* Strong organisational and analytical skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management tools.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
