Job Overview
We are expanding our team of Clinical Healthcare Support Workers within the Surgical Assessment Unit. We are looking for caring, compassionate people who enjoy working as part of a large, inclusive team.

The Surgical Assessment Unit is a 14‑bedded ward caring for emergency surgical, urology, ENT, orthopaedic patients, plus an 11‑trolley Same‑Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and 8 waiting‑room chairs.
Main duties
You will support registered nurses to deliver high quality, compassionate health care in line with a care plan. This is a busy role – you will balance a range of tasks that often change, including:
* blood pressure monitoring
* oxygen saturation levels
* body temperature
* pulse rate and respiration rate
* glucose monitoring
* collection and testing of urine, faecal and sputum samples
* wound swabs
* removal of catheters
* venepuncture
* recording your actions accurately in patient notes
Person specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* Basic school education with GCSE passes or equivalent.
* Basic IT skills.
Qualifications (Desirable)
* NVQ Level III Care Award – Direct Care or equivalent.
Skills (Essential)
* Understands the need for strict confidentiality.
* Understands and committed to a caring approach to patients & relatives.
* Able to prioritise own workload.
* Able to work under own initiative within boundaries of role.
* Demonstrates awareness of importance of working as part of a team.
Skills (Desirable)
* Experience of working as a health care assistant in hospital or outpatient setting.
