Are you a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist interested in working with people with Learning Disabilities within the London Borough of Brent?

This will be an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified Clinical/Counselling psychologist to join a supportive and diverse multidisciplinary team, which will provide opportunities to consolidate their training as well as develop their professional competencies.

We are looking for someone who will provide a specialist clinical psychology service to people with learning disability and their families/carers including assessment, development and implementation of specialist psychological interventions.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for completing comprehensive specialist assessments and evidence based therapeutic interventions to adults with learning disabilities, their families and paid carers .

Responsible for carrying out specialist face to face cognitive psychometric assessments as necessary and interpret the results of these, in order to make appropriate formulations, recommendations and planning appropriate evidence based interventions

Demonstrate that they are able to plan and prioritise own clinical workload and work within a multi- disciplinary setting

To ensure that the needs for patients are met while taking into consideration a holistic person -centred approach and create a therapeutic setting which is most appropriate to the client and/or service needs.

Responsible for recording, monitoring and reporting on clinical work and communicating complex clinical information to a variety of recipients (e.g. service users, families, carers, other professionals, and statutory and voluntary organisations) orally, in writing and electronically, and as specified by the service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1. Ensurea highstandard of clinicalcare to adults with learning disabilities and provide a comprehensive and appropriate psychological input directly to clients, families and carers

2.Play a key role in the advanced assessment and treatment of clients whomay have acute,chronic or complex presentation and determine clinical diagnosis and intervention required

3.Assessclients’needsanddirecttootherservicesasappropriate

4.Maintainrecordsasanautonomouspractitioner

5.Communicateeffectivelywithhealthandsocialcareprofessionalsandoutsideagencies regarding client care and progress

6.Communicate with other members of the Team regarding policies,service developmentand managementplans

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
