Location: Buttershaw / Hybrid Working (1-2 days in the office a week Bradford)
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday Friday.

Were looking for a Senior Economist to help shape business strategy through expert economic analysis. Youll work across the company to guide responses to regulatory challenges, lead on price reviews and market developments, and provide insight into areas like competition, environmental economics, data modelling, and pricing.

Where you fit in:
As our Senior Economist you will:
Help prepare regulatory submissions by providing solid economic analysis and evidence for price reviews, consultations, and information requests
Develop models to assess efficiency, performance, and risk across the business
Offer expert advice on regulatory, competitive, behavioural, and environmental economics
Bring together teams from across the business to shape strategic plans using economic insight
Keep up with government policy and translate it into practical strategies for the business
Represent Yorkshire Water in industry groups and consultations, helping influence the wider sector
Stay on top of macro-economic trends and share insights with the team
Make sure financial thinking and commercial awareness are built into everyday decision-making
What skills & qualifications you will need:
A degree with strong economics content
Experience applying economics in a government department, regulator, regulated business, consultancy, or similar
Sharp analytical skills and the ability to assess the impact of strategic decisions
Familiarity with advanced econometric tools and techniques
Confident communicator who can explain complex ideas clearly to all audiences
Strong report writing skills
Great at building relationships, including with senior stakeholders
Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and managing virtual collaboration
Reliable under pressure and able to meet tight deadlines
Able to influence others and promote positive behaviours and culture
