Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for a rewarding opportunity within the Children with Disabilities Team at West Berkshire Council? We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team, reporting to the Children with Disabilities Team Manager, to provide high‑quality social work services to children and families.


About The Role

As a Social Worker within the Children with Disabilities Team, you will be responsible for:

* Conducting assessments of the social care needs of children with disabilities and their families.
* Providing appropriate interventions and support to ensure the well‑being and safeguarding of children.
* Working collaboratively with other professionals, including education and health, to deliver integrated services.
* Building positive relationships with children, young people, and their families.
* Maintaining accurate and timely records, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.


About You

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

* Qualified Social Worker with a relevant social work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
* Experience working within a children’s social care setting, ideally with a background in supporting children with disabilities.
* Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding procedures.
* Excellent assessment, intervention, and report writing skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with children, families, and multi‑agency partners.
* Ability to work independently, manage a diverse caseload, and prioritise competing demands.
* Demonstrate resilience, empathy, and a child‑centred approach to social work practice.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
