The ROV Lead is responsible for overseeing all ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) operations within the Subsea Operations function, ensuring safe, efficient, and strategically aligned underwater activities that support Ocean Infinity’s marine objectives. In addition, the ROV Lead drives the transition from vessel-based ROV controls to fully remote-controlled operations from our Remote Operating Centre in Southampton, UK. This role demands a mindset of curiosity and a willingness to challenge conventional approaches to subsea operations. The ROV Lead is expected to explore innovative technologies, question legacy systems, and champion transformative practices that push the boundaries of what’s possible in remote marine robotics. They actively support and embrace the Ocean Infinity Training Program for ROC ROV pilots, fostering a culture of continuous learning and forward-thinking excellence. What you will do: Operational Leadership: Lead and coordinate all ROV operations, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and in alignment with organizational goals. Develop and implement operational plans and procedures for ROV missions to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Drive the Transition from vessel based ROV control to ROC based ROV control : Drive the transformation of ROV operational staff (ROV Pilots and ROV Supervisors) from vessel to shore, our Southampton based Remote Operating Centre both for our Saab Leopard ROV’s and our Saab next generation EROV’s which will arrive in 2026. The transition from vessel based ROV control to shore based ROC control will be completed by the end of 2026. Team Supervision and Training: Manage and mentor the ROV team, providing guidance, technical support, and performance feedback. Facilitate training programs to ensure the team is skilled in the latest ROV technologies and operational procedures. Support the integration of the new Saab and SMD EROV’s into our fleet: responsible to accept the Saab and SMD EROVs and bring them online to commercial status on our fleet, all fully remote controlled from our Southampton ROC with only two ROV technicians on board for ROV maintenance and repair. Project Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with project managers and other marine teams to develop project schedules and allocate resources effectively. Coordinate logistics, equipment, and personnel for each ROV operation, ensuring readiness and availability. Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure all ROV operations adhere to regulatory and company standards. Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations to enhance operational safety. Maintenance Oversight: Ensure all ROV systems and equipment are maintained to high operational standards, coordinating routine maintenance and repairs. Work with the technical team to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare operational reports and provide updates to senior management on project progress, challenges, and outcomes. Maintain detailed documentation on ROV operations, maintenance logs, and safety records. Budget and Resource Management: Manage the budget for ROV operations, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while meeting operational needs. Work with procurement to ensure the timely acquisition of necessary equipment and supplies. Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Identify opportunities to improve ROV operations through new technologies, process enhancements, or equipment upgrades. Stay informed of industry trends and best practices to ensure Ocean Infinity’s ROV capabilities remain at the forefront. Who you are: Extensive experience in remote operations or payload systems. Proven record as a Manager in technology-driven and/or highly regulated environments. Strong background in commissioning, trials, and service introduction of complex systems. Deep expertise in governance frameworks, compliance, and assurance. Knowledge of applicable regulations (e.g., IMCA, defence). Commercial acumen with ability to align governance and product lifecycle to profitability and growth. Desirable skills: Operation & Maintenance Management Strategic planning and execution. Salary for this position: Up to £85,000 per annum Salary : The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades. The salary process is based on skills, abilities, and experience required.
