Anexciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic, highly motivatedand flexible nurse with a passion to develop a career within dermatology. Thepost is to work in the Dermatology Outpatient Department at Chapel AllertonHospital.
Thepost is fixed term of 12 months and is 25.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
Weare seeking an Nurse Practitioner to work within a defined job plan toundertake a range of dermatology nurse led clinics (psoriasis triage, legulcer / wound management and home phototherapy). Clinics are currentlyestablished in most of these areas but we are seeking someone with a desireand vision to lead, develop and enhance the services.
Thesuccessful candidate will show evidence of supporting change management aswell as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A willingness toundertake the non-medical prescribing qualification is desirable.
Candidatesshould have knowledge and insight into the aspects of care required whencaring for and managing Dermatology patients.
Arelevant teaching and assessing qualification is essential, together withexcellent communication, leadership and managerial skills. Experience of dermatology, in the areas thepost focusses on, together with working within an outpatient environment isdesirable but not essential.

Thedermatology outpatient service is based at Chapel Allerton Hospital, Leeds.The dermatology outpatient service includes general and specialist medicaland nurse led dermatology clinics, phototherapy/ home phototherapy,photodynamic therapy and day treatment, allergy services, wound management,skin cancer and emergency clinics for adults and children. The job holderwill work within the dermatology outpatient nursing team.

Job responsibilities
Thejobholder will demonstrate evidence based care in the independent assessment,clinical examination, diagnosis, planning of care, clinical treatment,evaluation and health promotion of dermatological problems within agreedprotocols The post holder will work in conjunction with the relevantdermatology consultants in order to provide a range of nurse led clinicservices in the dermatology department.
Thejob holder will coordinate a multidisciplinary team of staff and implementnurse led care. They will participate in mentorship and teaching programmesfor multi-disciplinary groups within the department. The jobholder willprovide senior nursing support, advice and professional leadership to a groupof clinical areas within dermatology.
Thejobholder will take charge of the unit as required
Developingknowledge and skills in key areas of general dermatology, the post holderwill work undertaking a range of nurse led clinical activity within a definedjob plan covering the following areas:
Work with the psoriasis team todeliver nurse led Psoriasis Triage clinics under the supervision of adermatology consultant
Work within the leg ulcer teamundertaking new patient and follow up nurse led clinics
Work within the home phototherapyservice to deliver safe and effective remote treatment to a case load ofpatients
Contribute to training for nursingstaff to ensure safe and effective delivery of hospital based treatments
Act as a role model for thedevelopment of clinical skills, knowledge and competence within thedepartment team
Person Specification
Experience
* Significant experience working at staff nurse level within the specialty
* Ability to work with a wide range of professionals including medical, nursing, administrative and managerial
* Experience of working independently and within nurse led setting
Additional Requirements
* Experience of using clinical systems such as EPRO, ICE and PPM+
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse level 1
* Recognised teaching and assessing qualification
Skills & behaviours
* Able to communicate effectively both written and verbal, with patients and the multi disciplinary team
* Able to teach, supervise and assess qualified and unqualified staff
* Ability to provide training to groups of staff
* Able to clinically assess and examine patients
* Experience of recruitment and selection
* Demonstrate clinical leadership skills
