Overview
We are seeking experienced Upholstery Sewing Machinists to join our team for a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension. This role involves repairing office chairs for government contracts, and we are offering a competitive rate of £16 per hour.
Responsibilities
1. Operate and maintain sewing machines used in the upholstery repair process
2. Sewing, joining, reinforcing, or decorating materials using various machine techniques
3. Ensuring high-quality workmanship and attention to detail in upholstery repairs
4. Collaborate with the upholstery team to meet production goals and deadlines
5. Adhere to health and safety guidelines in the workplace
Qualifications
6. Previous experience in upholstery or sewing machine operation
7. Proficiency in using industrial sewing machines and related tools
8. Ability to interpret work orders and follow specific instructions
9. Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
10. Effective communication and teamwork skills
Day-to-day
11. Arrive at the workshop at 9am and engage in daily team meetings
12. Work closely with the upholstery team to prioritize repair tasks
13. Operate sewing machines to complete repair projects
14. Maintain a clean and organized work area
15. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient production and meet deadlines
16. Clock out at 5pm and update task progress with the team
