A fantastic opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join a fast growing, commercially focused organisation operating within a regulated, infrastructure led environment. This role sits within a national sales division and focuses on winning new business and developing long term client relationships across a broad range of multi site and enterprise customers. The Business Development Manager will play a key role in identifying, shaping and closing complex opportunities, working closely with internal delivery teams to ensure commercially sound and operationally viable outcomes. This is a highly consultative role, well suited to someone who enjoys autonomy, relationship building and negotiating solutions rather than transactional sales.
Location: Near Staines-Upon-Thames involving national travel (full driving licence/car essential)
Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 basic + car allowance + commission
Requirements for Business Development Manager:
Strong commercial experience in a Business Development, Sales or New Business focused role
Proven ability to win new business through consultative selling and negotiation
Experience working with complex or multi stakeholder customer environments
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and decision makers
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage pricing, margin and approvals
Confident using CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools
Highly organised, self motivated and able to manage multiple opportunities concurrently
Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with internal teams
Flexible and proactive approach to identifying and pursuing new opportunities
Strong problem solving and decision making skills
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
Experience within infrastructure, utilities, construction, facilities, energy, sustainability or technical B2B sales environments would be beneficial, but is not essential.
Responsibilities for Business Development Manager:
Win new business and develop new commercial opportunities across target sectors
Act as a key representative for the business to increase brand awareness and market presence
Identify leads, secure meetings with prospective clients and manage opportunities through the full sales lifecycle
Support site visits, surveys or discovery sessions to inform commercial proposals where required
Deliver high quality client presentations, tenders and proposals with a strong focus on conversion rate
Take responsibility for managing pricing and ensuring appropriate internal sign off prior to submission
Develop a sound understanding of cost drivers, operational constraints and delivery considerations
Identify risks that could impact productivity, timelines or overall commercial viability
Think creatively to identify additional revenue opportunities and adapt approach in line with market or internal change
Work closely with delivery, operations and project management teams to ensure a professional handover post sale
Maintain accurate, detailed and up to date records within the CRM system
Manage personal KPIs, pipeline performance and reporting requirements
Develop a strong understanding of the market landscape, competitor offerings and growth opportunities
Act as a positive ambassador for the organisation’s solutions and long term strategy
Demonstrate commitment to personal development, feedback and continuous improvement
Lead by example through work ethic, attitude and alignment with company values
