Private Sector Housing Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the council’s Private Sector Housing Team based in Bridlington (or possibly Goole for the right candidate) with blended working opportunities. We seek an experienced individual qualified to relevant equivalent degree level who has drive, enthusiasm and transferable regulatory enforcement skills.
Main responsibilities include enforcement of housing including houses in multiple occupation legislation, investigating cases of illegal eviction and supporting/advising local landlords, agents and occupiers.
You will also contribute to aspects of policy and procedural development for the service overall and give advice to local businesses.
A flexible approach together withprofessionalism, excellent communication skills and a positive ‘can do’ attitude are essential as is the ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team towards shared goals. You will also use the full range of enforcement powers and tools and provide regulatory advice and guidance to local businesses.
You must have experience in regulatory activity, particularly in housing enforcement, preferably with experience of inspecting properties under the Housing Health & Safety System and taking enforcement action including emergency remedial action.

Hours: 37 per week as part of a full-time, permanent contract.
