Overview
Quality Assurance Directorate of Healthcare Improvement Scotland has an interesting and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and positive healthcare professional to lead, manage and deliver a portfolio of high-profile inspections which meet legislative, statutory and national requirements for delivery of care and services to the people of Scotland. This post is to provide senior inspector leadership across NHS inspections, acute, maternity and mental health inspection programmes.

Secondment until 30 October 2026
Full-time: 37 Hours per Week
Band 8A (£62,681 - £67,665)
Location: Glasgow/Edinburgh, Hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future
Responsibilities
* Lead, manage and deliver a portfolio of high-profile inspections to meet legislative, statutory and national requirements for delivery of care and services.
* Provide senior inspector leadership across NHS inspections, including acute, maternity and mental health inspection programmes.
* Demonstrate high-level analytical skills to analyse, interpret and present complex information in written and verbal form.
* Provide senior leadership, clinical assurance, and management support across NHS inspection programmes within the Quality Assurance System and framework as part of a Quality Management System.
* Lead the continued development of acute, maternity and mental health inspection programmes with expertise and support aligned to the Quality Assurance System.
* Hold a current professional registration and recent experience in a senior leadership role providing professional and clinical oversight and guidance for strategic planning and delivery of care.
* Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; knowledge of Scottish health and social care systems, structures and policies.
* Travel throughout Scotland (including overnight stays) as required, including at short notice.
