An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time permanent Band 6 Podiatrist working across a variety of settings including community clinics, home visits, wards and hospital sites.
You will be working as a core member of the Integrated Diabetes Specialist team at Rotherham Foundation Trust Hospital. This will include the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside colleagues from Endocrine, Orthotics, Vascular Surgery, Podiatric Surgery and OPAT.
You will also work as part of the community podiatry service having the opportunity to perform nail surgery, offer routine care and assessment clinics for eligible patients, and may be involved in Biomechanics clinics.
Our Podiatry department has a proven track record of internal promotions and upskilling of staff. Staff can study for the non‑medical prescribing course, IRMER training for requesting x‑rays, shockwave therapy, acupuncture, steroid injection and leadership.
If successful you will be an integral part of the Podiatry team working alongside Podiatry Assistants, Band 6 Podiatrists and our Band 7 Lead Podiatrists (high risk and biomechanics).
The role is community‑based but will involve provision of diabetic foot care to patients attending our hospital sites and in their own homes/care homes with active diabetic foot complications.
Main duties of the job
* To deliver the provision of high risk specialist foot care and clinical treatment to patients of the Rotherham area.
* To work as a member of the Integrated Specialist Diabetes Team.
* To work as a Band 6 Podiatrist within the Podiatry Service to support the requirements of the department and Lead Podiatrists.
* To assist in developing the service and pathways to ensure the best patient journey whilst upholding trust values.
* To be professionally accountable for the delivery of podiatric care, conforming to Professional Bodies, HCPC, and the TRFT's minimum standards.
* Actively promote the Podiatry profession to all stakeholders.
* To contribute to the strategic development of departmental policy as a member of the Integrated Diabetes Specialist Team.
* To ensure accessible, responsive and flexible high risk foot assessment, treatment and care within service financial limitations.
* The post holder will support the Podiatry Clinical Lead and highly specialist lead with the discharge of their duties.
* With NMP qualification you will prescribe independently within your area of expertise and work to maintain your NMP competencies. If not already a prescriber, a willingness to work towards independent prescribing with support from Team Leads is essential.

Knowledge
* Demonstrate a broad range of clinical skills with an interest in Diabetic and High Risk Foot Care.
* Demonstrate good organisational skills and ability to create care plans.
Experience
* Post graduate Podiatry experience.
* Experience working with Podiatry Assistants.
* Experience working with Specialist Podiatrists.
* Experience of NHS working.
* Experience of working as part of a Diabetic Foot MDT.
Qualifications
* Degree/Diploma in Podiatry.
* Registered with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Evidence of Continual Professional Development (CPD).
* Local Anaesthesia Certificate.
* Non Medical Prescribing Module (V300) successfully completed or willingness to work toward it.
* Post Graduate qualification in Diabetic Foot /High Risk Foot or evidence of working towards suitable qualification.
