We are looking to strengthen our Construction team with a Senior Engineer based at Bewl Water. Reporting directly to the Site Manager, your role will be to provide assistance to the Site Manager - providing technical input, co-ordinating design & temporary works and quality controlling services to ensure that the contract works are constructed to the specification in an entirely safe manner, whilst maintaining appropriate site records.
Key responsibilities will include:
Temporary works co-ordinator
1. Appointed as Temporary works Co-ordinator, keeping training up to date and attending required internal temporary works forums.
2. responsible for the total management of temporary works on site,
3. reviewing designs from subcontractors and ensuring they are co-ordinated with other design and the permanent works.
4. Arranging checks of temporary works designs as required.
5. maintaining temporary works register,
6. Proactively reviewing upcoming temporary works and ensuring that design briefs are produced accepted and submitted in good time.
7. Assessing, appointing and managing temporary works supervisors
8. Carry out required site temporary works checks with sub-contractor temporary works co-ordinator and temporary works supervisors
9. issue permits to load and permits to strike etc.
Design co-ordination
10. Assist in maintaining drawing files, drawing register and site filling system.
11. Liaise with the design department to ensure updated information is always used.
12. Facilitate design to construction handover briefings.
13. Design co-ordination between temporary and permanent works designers and site team
14. Managing and maintaining RFI register between permanent works designer and subcontractors. Working with the site team to ensure timely response and escalation as required.
Technical input
15. Provide technical review of subcontractor method statements, programme and ITPs
16. Checking site work to ensure compliance with the specification, drawings and designs.
17. Provide technical support to Site Foreman and Site Manager
18. Ensure that the works are constructed to a good quality in line with the specification and good working practice.
19. Ensure that the required quality records are maintained.
20. Witness inspections on site including pre pour inspections, pre load inspections quality checks.
Team
21. Mentor site apprentice
22. Work collaboratively with site team and subcontractors to deliver best for project results
23. It is vitally important that Assistant Site Managers lead by example in terms of safety behaviours.
Lifting Appointed Person (preferred but not essential)
24. co-ordinate and approve subcontractor lift plans for site
25. Occasionally produce lift plan for deliveries and works outside subcontractor scope
