Mechanical Construction Specialist Job Description
Assist in ensuring all Projects / Company HSEQ goals are achieved and where possible exceeded.
Effective liaison with Client and / or Sub-Contractor / Vendor Representatives.
Implement a continuous improvement philosophy across all Mechanical Construction activities, always delivering best practices.
Provide support to the Mechanical Foreman / Construction Supervisor.
Ensure Mechanical Construction work scopes are carried out in accordance with Projects Construction specifications, standards, and procedures.
Ensure Mechanical Construction work scopes adhere to Projects schedule requirements.
Interface with all Projects trade disciplines.
Primary Duties
1. Execute day-to-day Mechanical Construction activities according to the Projects schedule, ensuring all safety procedures are followed.
2. Demonstrate visible safety leadership by example and communication with teams.
3. Participate in all Company and Projects safety initiatives.
4. Review Construction Workpacks / Drawings regularly to ensure work scopes are executed as planned; escalate issues to the Foreperson.
5. Act as a Performing Authority for Mechanical Construction activity permits, consulting with Foreperson and Control of Work to ensure tasks are executed as per permits / RAMS.
6. Ensure all Mechanical Construction work meets standards, and all drawings, specifications, inspections, certifications, and quality assurance systems are strictly followed; assist in completing site system test sheets and test dossier.
7. Perform tool checks to ensure tooling is in good condition prior to use.
8. Lead and participate in toolbox talks when required.
9. Liaise with Control of Work personnel to ensure daily work permits are issued and issues are resolved.
10. Support other trades / disciplines as needed or work as part of an integrated team.
Qualifications:
* Mechanical Apprenticeship (City and Guilds / Level 2 VQ)
* Onshore Safety Passport
Desirable:
* ONC in Engineering or related field
* Performing Authority experience
* Manual Handling certification
* MJI10 Hand Torque Bolted Connection Techniques
* TMJI10 Dismantle, Assemble and Hand Torque Flanged Joints
Preferred Experience:
* Similar role in Oil and Gas Projects
* Proven delivery in achieving project goals while maintaining high HSEQ standards
* Knowledge of O&G HSEQ safe working practices
* Understanding of Mechanical Construction processes
* Teamwork skills
* Knowledge of trade systems and Permit to Work systems
