Overview
The post holder will be a clinical expert and will be regularly in charge of specific areas within the Emergency department and on occasions be in charge of the whole department in the absence of the Band 7 Senior Sister. The post holder will work closely with the senior nurse and consultant colleagues to ensure the safety and comfort for our patients. Duties may include being responsible for tasks such as off duty, managing a small group of staff, attending meetings and handling complaints, along with completion of PDRs and sickness management. It is essential you have a special interest that you would like to carry forward as a project to ensure that we are constantly improving.
Responsibilities
* Support the current Emergency Department Senior Nurse and the Band 7 Sisters/Charge Nurses to ensure the highest standard of nursing care is provided, monitored and evaluated.
* Act as deputy in the absence of the Band 7 Senior Sister and demonstrate change management skills with the ability to see plans through within agreed timescales.
* Lead a team in Emergency (adult and paediatric) areas and develop effective leadership within an established nursing team.
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to form productive professional relationships with colleagues.
Qualifications and requirements
* Experienced Emergency Nurses and Paediatric nurses with post-registration experience as a Band 5 in Emergency Care for this Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse role.
* Clear track record of enthusiasm, drive and a commitment to improving the experience of people using our services.
* Proven ability to work well as part of a team within the Emergency department (adult and paediatric).
* Change management skills and a high level of commitment to delivering plans within agreed timescales.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to form productive professional relationships with colleagues.
