CATH was started in the winter of 1990-1991 when a group of local people responded to the number of people sleeping rough in Perth at that time. The first response was a ‘Soup Kitchen’, which later developed into a Day Centre (now called the Community Hub) opened in 1995.
Now, CATH supports people across Perth & Kinross through various projects – including our Community Hub, Outreach provision, supported housing service Tayview House, and Floating Housing Support. These initiatives aim to provide housing-related support, help access and maintain accommodation, offer income maximisation support, and facilitate community activities and signposting to additional support when needed. We also run an Adult Learning program and are finalizing a test of change project called Positive Pathways, which helps people access training, education, volunteering, and employment opportunities. Our charity shop, opened in 2010, provides income for the charity, promotes environmental sustainability by diverting items from landfill, fosters community engagement, offers affordable items, and provides volunteering and employment opportunities. Additionally, our project On The Mend offers an inclusive community facility on Perth High Street with group activities, including craft and upcycling courses facilitated by volunteers and creative staff.
About this Role
CATH is seeking a motivated, experienced, and flexible Fundraising Officer to join our team of approximately 35 staff and 40 volunteers. This is a new role within our organization, presenting an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to enhance our income and support our growth to meet community needs in Perth & Kinross. While the role will be supported by our Senior Management Team and colleagues, it is primarily a solo position, so the successful candidate must be confident working independently and embodying our values while building relationships with supporters and donors. The main focus will be community, events, and corporate fundraising, with opportunities to support trust and foundation applications and broader income-generating activities.
