Are you highly organised, detail-orientated, and passionate about supporting education?

Warwickshire Clerking Services is expanding, and we are looking for new Governance Professionals (formerly known as Clerks) to join our Clerking Service team.

About Us

At Warwickshire Governor Services, we understand that effective governance is the cornerstone of successful schools. As a traded service we offer a professional Clerking Service that goes beyond minute-taking—providing strategic, professional support that empowers governing boards to lead with confidence and clarity.

Our Clerking Service is quality-assured, responsive, and tailored to each individual school. Each governing board is matched with a skilled governance professional who not only manages meetings efficiently but also offers procedural guidance, ensures compliance, and maintains essential governance records.

With our Clerking Service, schools benefit from a seamless clerking experience backed by expert oversight, continuity planning, and access to a wider network of governance support.

Our Clerking Service provides skilled professionals to school governing boards across the county, and beyond and demand is growing — which is why we need you!

About the Role

As a Governance Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting school governing boards. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Organising and attending meetings (in-person and online)
2. Building strong relationships with governors
3. Accurately recording minutes of meetings and maintaining electronic governance records
4. Providing professional advice and guidance

You will be employed by Warwickshire County Council and assigned to specific schools. Day to day accountability is to the governing board.

While you will work mainly from home, you will be expected to attend meetings at times convenient to the governing board — usually early evenings. Meetings are usually in person with the occasional meeting taking place virtually at the request of the Chair of Governors.

This is a flexible part-time role, with hours ranging from clerking for one school to several schools and hours being agreed individually to suit your availability.

All new team members receive induction training, with ongoing support and development opportunities provided by our dedicated Governor Services Team.

Key Requirements

5. We are looking for individuals who are:
6. Proficient in ICT and can effectively use digital tools and systems
7. Proactive, highly organised, and detail-focused
8. Skilled in time management and administration
9. Excellent communicators — both written and verbal
10. Confident in building and maintaining professional relationships
11. Committed to self-development and continuous learning
12. Willing to provide advice and guidance to all governing board members
13. Able to work independently and flexibly, with professionalism and integrity
14. Able and willing to travel to their school to participate in in-person governing board meetings

You will be expected to uphold the Nolan Principles and demonstrate respectful challenge and support in your governance role. A DBS check will be required.

Interested?

We are looking for Governance Professionals who meet the above criteria and who are based in or able to travel to Bromsgrove, Solihull, Evesham, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, and Coventry.

If you live in any of these areas—or can easily travel to them and want to make a meaningful contribution to education, we would love to hear from you.
