WHAT IS INVOLVED

You will be responsible for maintaining Business Rates liabilities, exemptions and reliefs in accordance with legislation, case law, and council working practices to the required accuracy standards, achieving agreed clearance times as laid out in the Service plan. This will include property inspections and external visits as required.

You will undertake targeted reviews of Business Rates exemptions and reliefs to ensure ongoing accurate awards and assist in the monitoring of new developments and demolitions to enable accurate revenue forecasting.

We are a supportive and enthusiastic team delivering key front‑line services to businesses in County Durham.


WHAT WILL I NEED

You should have a relevant Level 2 qualification or equivalent and/or have experience of working in a finance or similar environment.

For customer‑facing roles you must demonstrate the ability to speak fluent English. This is a requirement under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.

If successful, you will be required to apply for a Basic Disclosure.


INTERVIEWS

Interviews will be held on 6th and 7th July 2026.
