Principle Infrastructure Engineer – Operations
The position of Principle Infrastructure Operations Engineer is available within NHS Trust. The role involves providing effective support, maintenance and development to NWAS Server and Cloud Infrastructure both during and outside office hours.
Responsibilities
* Serve as the senior authority within the Trust regarding server and cloud environments, responsible for the maintenance and management of existing and future developments.
* Act as a subject‑matter expert for the Trust's Active Directory, Server and Cloud architecture.
* Drive continual improvement of infrastructure and act as the ultimate escalation point for all Trust Server, Cloud and Active Directory issues.
* Provide advice and guidance to the ICT Senior Management Team and wider engineering team.
* Assess business requirements across the Trust, recommend appropriate solutions, future‑proof design and maintain awareness of technology developments and strategic direction.
* Ensure designs incorporate resilience, reliability and sustainability, and that comprehensive system design and configuration documentation is produced, maintained and controlled throughout the life of the solution.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Minimum of 10 years of experience maintaining, supporting and deploying similar IT estates.
* Strong technical knowledge of Active Directory, Server and Cloud architecture.
* Full driving licence and willingness to travel by own vehicle across the North West and occasionally nationally.
* Will be placed on the Trust's On‑Call Rota (typically one day per week after a suitable period).
Working Conditions
* Regular travel in own vehicle may be required across the North West and occasionally nationally.
* Position requires presence at the Trust’s main IT site three times a week.
