Strategic Senior HR Business Partner – Corporate Functions Exeter (3 days a week onsite) £70,000 – £75,000 £9,000 car allowance We’re seeking a highly influential Strategic Senior HR Business Partner (People Performance Lead) to partner with Corporate Function leaders and shape the future capability, culture, and performance of the organisation. This role is ideal for a senior HR professional who can operate confidently at an executive level, bringing depth in organisational development, leadership development, talent strategy, and performance management, while balancing long-term capability building with short-term business priorities. About the Role As the People Performance Lead for Corporate Functions, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering people processes and programmes aligned to the overall People Plan and the strategic goals of core business support functions. You will bring specialist organisational development and talent expertise, diagnose organisational needs, influence strategic decisions, and help shape a high-performance, future-ready culture across functions such as Finance, IT, Legal, Commercial, HR, Procurement, and Risk. This role blends thought leadership with hands-on delivery, providing both strategic direction and practical implementation. What You’ll Do Build strong, consultative relationships with senior Corporate Function leaders, influencing decision-making and strengthening leadership capability. Act as a strategic adviser on organisational design, workforce planning, culture, talent, and people strategy across Corporate Functions. Shape and deliver elements of the People Plan that support both business outcomes and long-term organisational capability. Partner with leaders to align people priorities with business strategy, supporting planning cycles, restructuring, and transformation activity. Design and deliver targeted development programmes, leadership interventions, and bespoke coaching to build capability across corporate teams. Collaborate with Centres of Excellence and Performance Leads to align people priorities and ensure best practice is shared across the organisation. Support the Head of People in developing a robust talent and succession plan for Corporate Functions, identifying critical roles and capability gaps. Lead succession planning, capability reviews, and career development interventions to build strong internal pipelines. Design and maintain performance and development frameworks that support individual, team, and functional excellence. Use people analytics and workforce insights to inform planning, measure impact, and provide strategic recommendations. Support the design and execution of internal mobility initiatives, enabling career growth and functional capability building. Develop policies and processes that support talent mobility, internal progression, and agile resourcing. Monitor and report on the impact of people initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and aligning with corporate priorities. Partner with business and HR leaders to implement organisation-wide programmes that embed culture, values, and ways of working across Corporate Functions. What You’ll Bring Proven ability to operate at a strategic level and influence senior stakeholders across Corporate Functions. Strong stakeholder management and the confidence to challenge constructively with tact and credibility. High-impact communication skills, along with excellent coaching and facilitation capability. Ability to diagnose organisational issues and design practical, business-focused solutions. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to quickly establish trust with senior leaders. Skilled at interpreting people data and analytics to drive insight-led recommendations. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities across a complex, multi-functional environment. Pragmatic, solutions-driven mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a clear focus on delivery. Your Experience Senior or strategic HR Business Partnering experience supporting Corporate Functions (Finance, IT, HR, Legal, Commercial, Procurement, Risk, etc.). Deep understanding of organisational development theory and its practical application. Proven track record delivering leadership development, learning programmes, and talent planning interventions. Broad HR expertise including capability development, performance management, succession planning, culture shaping, and employee engagement. Experience supporting transformation, organisational change, or complex business improvement programmes. Strong ability to use people analytics and workforce insights to influence senior decision-makers. Experience working across national or multi-site, matrixed teams. Confidence using HR technology, systems, and tools to track and manage people interventions. Excellent project management skills with strong attention to detail.
