Job Overview We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 3 Therapy Assistant in The Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and Complex Cancer Late Effects Rehabilitation Service. We are a specialist multi-disciplinary team working with people with complex chronic pain. The Therapy Assistant will be part of the specialist team, and training will be provided. You’ll help provide support to our patients assist in delivering the best care possible to our patients who have significant pain and pain associated disabilities. We are a part of the Bath National Pain Services based at the Royal United Hospitals (RUH). We maintain the highest standards of care for patients with complex needs. Main duties of the job You will be supporting the patients throughout their attendance on a two-week residential rehabilitation programme. This involves supporting the clinicians and delivering some elements of groupwork. You will also be assisting patients with aspects of personal care and activities of daily living in the therapy environment, including hydrotherapy. You will be pivotal in communicating with the wider pain speciality team and associated support services. You will be responsible for organising the daily patient timetable and scheduling transport. You will be supporting CRPS and CCLERS patients in making a difference to their functional level and quality of life. Person specification Qualifications & Training Essential criteria Achieved or willing to undertake training and qualifications relevant to B3 Therapy Assistant role. NVQ or similar. Qualifications in English and Maths to GCSE level or equivalent Desirable criteria Practical experience and application of current Manual handling techniques Up to date professional/personal development portfolio Specific Skills Essential criteria Flexible approach and ability to adapt communication style for patients experiencing fear, anxiety, distress, significant pain, altered sensory perception Ability to act without direct supervision, using initiative to problem solve Desirable criteria Involvement in data collection and audit, understanding of quality issues Ability and willingness to drive patients across site in electric minibus if required Knowledge & Experience Essential criteria A high level of verbal and written English Computer literate, word, excel, outlook etc Desirable criteria Experience of working with people with long term conditions Hydrotherapy, delivering relaxation, Mindfulness, Yoga, Tai Chi/Qi Gong Please note - Due to recent changes in UK immigration and visa rules applicants who do not currently have the right to work in the UK may not be considered unless an alternative right to work solution can be provided.
