Overview
This is a replacement post. The Gynaecology Oncology Fellow will play a key role in the management of patients with gynaecological cancers including ovarian, cervical, endometrial, vulval and rare pelvic malignancies. The fellowship offers advanced clinical exposure to complex oncological surgery (open, laparoscopic, robotic‑assisted) and participation in chemotherapy and radiotherapy planning. The fellow will work within a multidisciplinary team of oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, specialist nurses and palliative care teams, contributing to high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
In addition to surgical training, the fellow will actively participate in cancer MDT meetings, outpatient oncology clinics, colposcopy, advanced imaging reviews, and will have opportunities for clinical research, quality improvement initiatives and medical education.
This post is ideal for senior trainees or post‑CCT doctors wanting to refine expertise in gynaecological oncology surgery and cancer care, preparing for consultant positions.
Responsibilities
* Clinical supervision of junior medical and non‑medical staff.
* Teaching undergraduate students and contributing to Continuing Medical Education and clinical governance initiatives.
* Contribute to departmental research interests in line with the Trust’s R&D framework.
* Participate in the Clinical Audit Programme.
* Adhere to infection prevention and control policies, including hand hygiene, personal, environmental and food hygiene, and undertake annual training.
* Maintain high standards of patient safety and evidence‑based practice.
* Observe all Trust policies and relevant statutory and professional obligations.
* Maintain strict confidentiality of personal information relating to patients and staff.
Qualifications & Experience
* Senior trainee or post‑CCT doctor in gynaecology or related specialty.
* Experience in gynaecological oncology surgery and multidisciplinary cancer care.
* Commitment to clinical research, audit and quality improvement.
* Excellent communication, teaching and teamwork skills.
* Understanding of Trust infection control policies and evidence‑based practice.
