Overview
These are replacement appointments following expansion of our services and retirements of existing consultants. The post is for a General Consultant Anaesthetist with scope to accommodate special interests in most major anaesthesia sub-specialties. The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals Group (NNUH, James Paget University Hospital, and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn) now operate in partnership as the Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group. All future senior medical appointments are expected to work across the Group and may involve work at more than one hospital site as service needs dictate.
Service location may change as models of care are developed by our clinically led networks through the acute clinical strategy. Some procedures or services may be based at sites other than the appointee7s primary site of employment.
Responsibilities
The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals. The appointee will share clinical responsibilities within the Department of Anaesthesia and contribute to peri-operative assessment clinics where required. In addition to subspecialty duties, the appointee will provide anaesthesia for adult patients across specialties appropriate to training and experience.
On-call commitments include an approximate 1:20 rota for emergency on-call work. A separate consultant on-call rota exists for paediatric anaesthesia, weekend and bank holiday day trauma theatres, intensive care medicine, and obstetric anaesthesia. All postholders are expected to participate in the Trust7s Clinical Governance program, including active involvement in clinical audit, quality initiatives, guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal, and risk management.
