Job Title: Leisure Attendant
Reports To: Senior Leisure Attendant
Location: On-Site – Manchester City Centre
Purpose of the Role
To manage and maintain the leisure facilities at a new-build residential development in Manchester City Centre. You will supervise the swimming pool and spa, oversee plant-room operations, and uphold exceptional standards of cleanliness in all wet areas and changing facilities. Exceptional professionalism and customer service are essential to ensure a positive resident experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pool & Spa Operations
Monitor safety and security in all wet-leisure areas, adhering to Pool Safety Operating Procedures (PSOP) and RLSS guidelines.
Conduct daily health & safety inspections of pool, spa, showers and changing rooms.
Manage bather loads and enforce capacity limits to maintain a safe environment.
Assist with opening and closing procedures, ensuring all security measures are in place.
2. Plant-Room Maintenance
Perform legal and preventative maintenance tasks: water testing, backwashing and safe handling of chemicals.
Order and manage stock of pool chemicals and equipment.
Report, and where possible resolve, minor plant-room faults; escalate major issues promptly.
3. Cleaning & Hygiene
Maintain immaculate cleanliness across all pool, spa and adjacent areas.
Support ad-hoc cleaning needs, from routine vacuuming and mopping to jet-washing communal spaces.
Assist the Housekeeping team during peak or emergency situations.
4. Emergency & Incident Response
Respond swiftly to incidents in line with PSOP and company procedures, prioritising resident safety.
Monitor CCTV and alarm systems throughout your shift and report any suspicious or antisocial behaviour.
5. Resident Liaison
Handle resident queries, requests and complaints in a professional, courteous manner.
Coordinate any required maintenance work and feed back progress to residents.
6. Compliance & Administration
Complete all required logs, test records and incident reports accurately and on time.
Review and suggest updates to risk assessments as necessary.
Keep qualifications and training (e.g. PSOP, RLSS, COSHH) up to date.

Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential:
NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification)
Thorough understanding of PSOP, RLSS guidelines and COSHH regulations
Desirable:
First Aid at Work or Emergency Responder certification
Pool Plant Operator Certificate (Level 2 or 3)
Lifting and Manual Handling training
Experience
Previous lifeguard or leisure-attendant role in a residential, leisure or hotel environment.
Familiarity with plant-room operations and basic equipment testing procedures.
Proven customer-service experience, especially in handling challenging situations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
