Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Roofer to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining roofing systems on a variety of building types. This role requires a strong understanding of roofing techniques, safety procedures, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities
* Install new roofing systems using appropriate materials and techniques, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications
* Repair or replace damaged or worn roofing components, including shingles, tiles, metal sheets, and membranes
* Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and specifications to accurately execute roofing projects
* Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication machinery safely and effectively
* Assist with the fabrication of roofing components as required, utilising carpentry, masonry, plumbing, or other relevant skills
* Perform heavy lifting of materials such as tiles, shingles, metal sheets, and insulation materials
* Work at heights on ladders or scaffolding while maintaining strict safety protocols
* Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining high standards of quality
* Maintain a clean and organised work site throughout each project
Skills
* Proficiency in reading schematics and technical drawings related to roofing systems
* Experience with welding and fabrication processes is advantageous
* Skilled in using hand tools such as hammers, chisels, screwdrivers, and measuring devices
* Competent with power tools including drills, saws, nail guns, and grinders
* Knowledge of construction principles with a focus on roofing installation and repair techniques
* Ability to work safely at heights using scaffolding or harnesses when necessary
* Strong understanding of masonry, carpentry, plumbing, or general construction practices is desirable
* Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks and prolonged periods of standing or working in awkward positions
* Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure precise work execution
