The Role As our Transport Manager, youll be responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the companys transport activities. Youll play a vital role in ensuring operational efficiency, compliance with transport legislation, and maintaining our Operator Licence standards. You'll work closely with drivers and internal departments to deliver a reliable, legally compliant, and cost-effective service.
Key Responsibilities Maintain full compliance with transport legislation, including vehicle safety, driver hours, and Operator Licence requirements.
Ensure fleet is maintained to the highest standards and meets all statutory testing and inspection intervals.
Audit and review transport compliance systems regularly, identifying and resolving any shortcomings.
Manage and monitor driver performance, including licensing, qualifications, and ongoing CPC training.
Plan and optimise delivery and collection routes for maximum efficiency.
Lead regular toolbox talks and driver briefings, fostering a culture of safety and professionalism.
Maintain FORS Silver accreditation with the ambition to achieve Gold.
Monitor transport-related KPIs including accident reduction, maintenance costs, and efficiency savings.
Manage training and development plans for drivers and transport staff.
Provide accurate reporting on vehicle maintenance, driving behaviour, and compliance metrics.
Ensure health and safety standards are met across all transport operations.
What Were Looking For Transport Manager CPC (Refresher within the last 5 years) Essential
Full UK Driving Licence Essential
In-depth knowledge of transport legislation and fleet compliance
Experience managing a fleet within a commercial or industrial setting
Strong leadership and communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and proactive problem-solving ability
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
HGV licence Desirable but not essential
Previous experience working towards or maintaining FORS accreditation
