Job Description
Cost Engineers support major projects and organizations by providing accurate and timely project performance information against baselines. They lead cost performance reporting, including Earned Value Management metrics related to project commitments and expenditures.
Duties
1. Develop project cost control data structures to track and control actual costs.
2. Establish and set the project control budget aligned with agreed baselines.
3. Track actual costs for internal and external expenditures against control structures.
4. Monitor and control project accruals and commitments within budget constraints.
5. Build project forecasts, including estimates for work to complete (ETC) and estimate at complete (EAC).
6. Report all project information accurately and promptly, including Earned Value Management.
7. Track project contingency and exposure related to risk events and remaining risks.
8. Monitor project change control to ensure alignment with baselines and control data structures.
9. Identify key project trends to inform future change controls.
Qualifications
Typically, a qualified graduate in a relevant discipline with proven experience in project controls for major projects or programmes. CIMA qualification is also desirable.
Experience
Experience in cost engineering across various sectors and project lifecycle phases, from pre-investment to commissioning. Familiarity with cost management systems like Prism and Ecosys, and understanding of integration with financial systems such as SAP and Oracle, is essential.
