THE ROLE
* Working on a shift basis covering the electrical operations requirements of a heavy engineering plant.
* Electrical maintenance of all motors and drives.
* Fault finding on electronic cards to component level.
* Maintenance of the mill thyristor drives.
* Electrical maintenance of overhead D.C. and A.C. cranes.
* Maintenance of PLC systems, specifically ABB and Allen Bradley.
* Use of programming tools to identify faults on PLC systems and changed parameters as required.
* Monitoring and maintaining the furnace control systems, calibration of controllers and the air / gas transducers, changing of thermocouples and the lighting procedure of furnaces.
* Reacting to breakdown requirements and safely / quickly identifying faults to minimise the impact on production.
For this position of Electrical Shift Engineer your working hours are on a rotating shift pattern which is, Shift rota, 1 week mornings (6am to 2pm) 1 week afters (2pm to 10pm) and 1 week nights (10pm to 6am) Monday to Friday with the am shift working a Saturday morning with a day off during the next week.
THE CANDIDATE
* Required:
* Education to H.N.C. Level in an Electrical Engineering discipline.
* A basic understanding of PC based software, Excel etc.
* An understanding and ability to interpret electrical drawings.
* Experience in writing reports detailing the activities during shift.
* Experience in working to safety legislation relevant to operations and electrical maintenance.
* Experience in adhering to S.W.P.'s, risk assessments, I+I procedures and the permit systems, as well as I.E.E. Regulations.
THE BENEFITS

* For working extra hours, there is a 13-hour payment each month = £2475 a year (Not guaranteed)
* Quarterly bonus with a max pay out of 20%
* Overtime is paid at 1.5 x with certain Bank Holidays paid at 2 x (Overtime is on Saturdays)
* 28 days holiday (for 1st year including BH, increasing annually up to a max of 35 after 5 years' service)
