Technical Apprentice Pre‑registration Pharmacy Technician – Pharmacy Services (B4 Annex 21)
Join NHS Ayrshire & Arran as a Pre‑Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician in a 2‑year technical apprenticeship. This full‑time role (37 hours a week, reducing to 36 in April 2026) offers a fixed‑term contract and the opportunity to become a registered Pharmacy Technician.

* 2 years fixed‑term contract
* Based across Pharmacy Services within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde
Training & Qualification
Successful applicants will undertake a comprehensive training programme that includes:
* SVQ in Pharmacy Services (SCQF Level 8)
* Professional Development Award in Pharmacy Services (SCQF Level 7)
* On‑line PDA study and on‑the‑job training with an assigned educational mentor
Completion of both qualifications makes the applicant eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council and practice as a registered Pharmacy Technician.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team dealing with patients and their medicinal needs
* Medicines management including dispensing and ordering medicines in acute or community settings
* Stock management, distribution and data collection
* Ward services including near‑patient dispensing
* Prepare intravenous preparations within an aseptic unit
* Complete work‑based assessments and develop a portfolio of evidence
* Complete any required rotations
* Rotated across various sites throughout the 2‑year training as part of a Pre‑Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician rota
Eligibility & Qualifications
* Four national SCQF level 5 qualifications (A–C) in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and English/ESOL (essential)
* OR completion of the Access to Pharmacy Course (SCQF Level 5)
* Excellent oral and written communication skills (essential)
* Good IT skills (essential)
* Experience of team‑working (essential)
Key Terms and Conditions
* Training with an accredited education provider
* Registered with Skills Development Scotland as a Technical Apprentice
* Appointees start in April 2026
* College start in April/May 2026
Salary
* Band 4 Annexe 21 Year 1: 70 % – £23,111 per annum
* Band 4 Annexe 21 Year 2: 75 % – £24,762 per annum
