Professional Lead and Clinical Lead (Ref: 218674) Mental Health and Substance Use Programme, Transformational Change Mental Health Unit, Community Engagement and Transformational Change Directorate 1 x 0.1 WTE Clinical Lead 1 x 0.1 WTE Professional Lead Flexible working pattern - 1 day per fortnight, 0.5 day per week or other pattern Secondment to 31 March 2026 Current salary will apply Edinburgh/Glasgow - hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future Healthcare Improvement Scotland is seeking to recruit to two posts: a Clinical Lead and a Professional Lead to support the work of the Mental Health and Substance Use Programme within the Mental Health Unit (TCMH) which is part of the Community Engagement and Transformational Change Directorate (CETC). The post holders will provide subject and improvement expertise, assurance and visible leadership to the Mental Health and Substance Use Programme. The programme is now supporting development and implementation of local protocols setting out how mental health and substance use services work together through influencing and engagement activity and providing multidisciplinary support. It is also providing national support through the learning system, which includes a toolkit, examples and guidance resources, case studies, webinars and workshops. The Professional Lead role is open to professionals from any sector (including but not limited to Social Work Mental Health Officer, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapists, Senior Third Sector Practitioners). Candidates for the Clinical Lead role must hold current active relevant registrations. The post holder for both roles will provide subject matter and improvement expertise, professional/clinical advice and visible leadership to inform the national learning system and further the aims of the programme, as well as the wider Transformational Change – Mental Health Unit. They will engage with local stakeholders to influence They will work closely with the national team to deliver the programme and engage in post-2026 National Mission influencing activity. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills will be fundamental to success in this role, as well as the ability to build upon current professional and or clinical networks.
