Resident Doctor – Critical Care (Nights Only)
Location: Birmingham, The Harborne Hospital
Contract Type: Part-time
Shifts: Monday - Friday nights 1 x 12hr shift per week (8pm - 8am)
Salary: Starting Salaries from £76,000 - £79,000 (DOE).
We are seeking Resident Doctors who specialize in Adult Critical Care / ITU Part Time for Nights only contract week days only. The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham, a partnership between HCA Healthcare UK and the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
While we are a Consultant Led Service, we believe in empowering our Resident Doctors, so your role could become expand as much as you wish. You’ll have the chance to be involved in audits, projects and quality improvement initiatives alongside the opportunity to join a variety of internal networks. This could be to help steer the services you deliver, speaking up or patient satisfaction focus groups, clinical governance or MDT meetings. Giving you an opportunity to network with your peers, share best practice and expand your knowledge in an unrivalled setting.
The Role:
We’re seeking experienced and motivated Resident Doctors in Critical Care to join our expert medical team in a 6 Bed Critical Care Unit You’ll work closely with Consultants and Specialist Nurses across our Level 3 Adult Critical Care Unit, ensuring that every patient receives exceptional, timely, and safe care.
What You’ll Do:
1. Working in a team of specialists to provide day-to-day inpatient medical management, including clerking admissions, daily ward rounds, and routine clinical reviews.
2. Collaborate closely with internationally recognised consultants, specialist therapists, and nurses in all aspects of medical care for adult patients on the Critical Care Ward.
3. Completing a range of medical procedures, including complex airways as directed, central access and haemodynamic monitoring.
4. Leading crash teams if appropriate/ required.
5. Review deteriorating patients on the ward and manage appropriately.
What you’ll bring:
6. GMC Registration and License to Practice in the UK
7. Intensive Care Medicine training ST3 + (Critical Care and Anaesthesia)
8. Experience working in a level 3 Critical Care Adult Unit.
