Maintenance Engineer – Power Station
Up to £54,000 + Bonus + Benefits

SCINERGY Recruitment are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join an Energy from Waste CHP facility in Plymouth. This role is focused on maintaining plant reliability, managing contractors and coordinating maintenance activities across site assets.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role involves a mix of technical oversight, defect diagnosis, contractor management and procurement of maintenance services, supporting the safe and efficient operation of the plant’s mechanical and electrical equipment.
Responsibilities
* Plan, coordinate and oversee defect investigations, repairs and maintenance activities across plant equipment.
* Diagnose equipment faults and identify appropriate corrective maintenance solutions.
* Manage external contractors on site, ensuring compliance with safety standards, permits and quality expectations.
* Review and approve RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) for maintenance activities.
* Identify equipment defects, reliability issues and improvement opportunities across plant systems.
* Support the planning and delivery of major maintenance outages.
* Raise procurement documentation and manage support contracts for critical plant equipment and maintenance services.
* Assist the Maintenance Manager with maintenance planning, budgeting and contractor performance management.
* Ensure all activities comply with site safety procedures, statutory requirements and best engineering practice.
Requirements
* Apprentice trained engineer with a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Experience in a supervisory or coordination role within a process industry such as power generation, energy from waste, utilities, petrochemical or even Royal Navy
* Strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical plant equipment, with a slight bias towards electrical systems.
* Experience managing contractors and overseeing maintenance work scopes.
* Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work and RAMS.
* Experience using CMMS / maintenance management systems.
* IOSH qualification (minimum) or equivalent safety training preferred.
* Strong fault finding and problem-solving ability.
