Emergency Response Operations Manager

As an Emergency Response Operations Manager, you will lead the delivery and recovery of emergency response activities across your designated area. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include coordinating with statutory services, managing a team of staff and volunteers, and ensuring the effective use of resources. You will be part of the on-call 24-hour duty officer rota, providing leadership and expert decision-making during incidents. Your role will involve developing and implementing operational plans, monitoring performance, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery. You will play a crucial role in building resilient communities and ensuring the British Red Cross is a key player in local emergency response plans.
To be considered for this role, candidates must be located or willing to relocate to any of the following areas; Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham, Cumbria, Yorkshire and the Humber, North Lincolnshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, or Cheshire.
What will a day in the life of an Emergency Response Operations Manager involve? You'll be: Leading the delivery of crisis and emergency response operations in your area.
Supporting statutory services in planning for local and national emergencies.
Advising on the effective use of British Red Cross assets.
Ensuring sustainable levels of skilled and trained volunteers.
Using data and insights to improve service delivery.
Developing and embedding a quality assurance framework.
Monitoring service activity and managing area finances.
Providing empathetic leadership during remote coordination of incident response.
What will you need to be a successful Emergency Response Operations Manager? Good working knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and related regulations.
Ability to set and monitor performance measures.
Experience in writing and executing operational plans.
Strong skills in interpreting complex data and preparing reports.
Confident communication with diverse stakeholders.
Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft 365.
A full UK drivers licence.
Experience in working in disasters and emergencies and managing budgets.
