Job Description
This Product Manager role is part of NEC Government, overseeing products such as NEC Revenues & Benefits and Citizen Access (online services). The position is hybrid, with initial weeks at the Bracknell office.
Responsibilities
* Liaison and communication with customers and prospective customers.
* Produce and maintain product roadmaps.
* Understand user needs and champion them during delivery phases.
* Work across business analysis, development, testing, support, technical authors, and pre‑sales teams.
* Understand current and future customer needs.
* Establish and document detailed business requirements and user journeys.
* Conduct user research and support market requirement specification.
* Assist setting product roadmaps ensuring alignment with commercial opportunity, customer needs, and market drivers.
* Act as product champion to ensure delivery meets marketplace needs.
* Day‑to‑day management and administrative tasks.
* Support sales with up‑to‑date product content, briefings, and tender responses.
* Provide regular product updates for business strategy and decisions.
* Serve as a point of contact for internal teams and customers.
* Write guides and documentation for internal and external audiences.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in the UK Public Sector with knowledge of local government services, particularly Welfare Benefits and integration with services such as the DWP.
* Strong understanding of public sector organisations, commercial and technical literature, and ability to communicate it clearly.
* Basic knowledge of system administration and technical integration (e.g., setting up batch processes).
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to articulate complex concepts across stakeholders.
* Some knowledge of the end‑to‑end software development lifecycle.
* Knowledge of systems or solutions used by local authorities.
* Ability to liaise and communicate with customers, gather information, deliver presentations, and resolve disputes.
* Flexible, adaptable, and capable of delivering solutions within challenging timeframes.
