The Ophthalmology Booking team are recruiting for two full time booking officers to join their dynamic team in an exciting and busy role. Main duties of the job
To provide a high level of Customer Service for patients requiring an Outpatient Appointment at The Princess Alexandra Hospital. To provide an Appointment Service that achieves all Key Performance Indicators to ensure provision of a high standard of Customer Care. To ensure that patients telephone calls are answered efficiently and effectively. To have confidence in communicating politely and efficiently with patients, relatives and other Trust Staff via the telephone and other messaging systems. To maintain patient confidentiality at all times when communicating with patients via the telephone and to be aware of data protection. To provide a reminder service for outpatient appointments contributing to the reduction of DNAs.

Job responsibilities
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Ensure the accurate and confidential use of Cerner or any other electronic booking system to register patients new to the Trust, ensuring that patient details are correct.
* Follow Trust guidelines and policies to book patients’ appointments, working to achieve compliance with the 18 Week RTT Pathway.
* Maintain confidentiality and be aware of data protection when entering patient details and episodes onto Cerner or any other electronic booking system.
* Make new appointments working to achieve compliance with the 18 Week RTT Pathway, including through the Choose & Book system.
* Provide data regarding patients who have been unable to book an appointment electronically.
* Provide follow up appointments for patients attending clinics or being discharged home from the wards.
* Ensure all clinic templates are fully booked to ensure full utilisation of capacity.
* Develop skills to be able to work on more than one electronic booking system to enhance the service provided, by facilitating cross cover and thereby ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
* Ensure that confidentiality is maintained when speaking to patients on the telephone.
* Provide a telephone/text reminder service for patients attending for an Outpatient Appointment.
* Be able to work as part of a team and use your own initiative in a very busy office environment.
* Communicate with patients and all members of the multidisciplinary team in a clear and concise confident manner.
* Any escalation and concern should be promptly made to the Failsafe officer or Assistant Service Manager.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE or equivalent including maths and English.
* Previous clerical experience.
* Previous experience & knowledge of 18 weeks RTT.
* Experience of a bespoke electronic booking system.
Experience
* MS office Word and Excel.
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
* Knowledge of Choose and Book.
