The Medical Secretary Function provides an accurate, confidential and supportive administration service for patients, clinical teams, carers and internal and external agencies (e.g. Local Authority, Third Sector, CAIS) to enable a safe and efficient patient pathway and to give information and support to families and carers.
The post holder will support the delivery of a comprehensive, high‑quality medical secretarial administrative service, coordinating arrangements to provide a supportive secretarial service to consultants, medical and nursing teams. They will work independently, organising and prioritising their own workload to meet deadlines and to facilitate patients along a defined pathway.

Job responsibilities
Support the co‑ordination of administration arrangements for the consultant, medical and nursing team, ensuring a high‑quality secretarial service and working independently to meet deadlines and facilitate patients along a defined pathway.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ Business Administration Level 3 or equivalent experience.
* RSA / OCR Level 2 or equivalent experience (must be a proficient user of Microsoft Word).
* AMSPAR – City & Guilds Level 3.
* NVQ Customer Service Level 3.
Experience
* Knowledge of a range of administrative processes.
* Experience of working in a busy office environment.
* Experience of working within the NHS.
Skills
* Communicates professionally and effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Salary: £26,300 to £27,890 a year, pro rata.
