Primary Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Hygiene Manager, the Hygiene Associate is responsible for effectively carry out hygiene tasks, internal and external, in such a manner as to ensure that building fabric, storage areas and equipment where required is stripped, cleaned, and reassembled in accordance with recognised procedures, practices, always maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, including health & safety to continually produce safe food.
Key Areas of Responsibility
· Carry out hygiene operations in such a manner to ensure that physical, microbiological, allergenic and chemical contamination of food stuff does not occur, to recognize potential contamination issues ensuring early reporting to relevant, responsible associates.
· Ensure all Health & Safety assessments are considered when working and that all preventative measures are adhered to.
· Once the task is finished, ensure that all relevant documentation is signed off as complete, making sure any issues are recorded.
· Operate and use tools and equipment in accordance with prescribed requirements including usage, storage, and application of named chemicals – ensuring that correct PPE is always worn, and you are fully trained for the task being performed/equipment being used.
· Be flexible and willing to train across multiple areas and equipment throughout the factory, as and when required.
· Responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the factory.
· Identify key pest on site, reporting and completing actions required to ensure the factory is pest free.
· Working closely with other members of the team and other departments to ensure required reports and handovers are effective and sufficiently detailed.
· Adhere to shift start/finish times and break entitlements.
· All other duties as allocated by the Hygiene Controller or Technical Manager.
Key Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have:
· Previous experience in a similar role in food manufacturing
· Good knowledge of Hygiene standards
· Pest Awareness
· COSHH
