We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Head of Department (Inclusion) to join our Supported Learning Development. There are three roles available across three campuses. The successful candidate will work full-time and receive a competitive salary and staff benefits.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the Head of Department, other Assistant Heads of Departments, Lecturers and Technicians to coordinate day-to-day practical and theoretical activities.
* Embed equality, diversity and inclusion practices and ensure students with SEND and High Needs have a personalised curriculum embedding English and Maths within vocational learning and across the Supported Learning Department.
* Manage staffing and timetables to maximise learning support and achieve high levels of attainment.
* Implement high levels of personalised curricula for students with High Needs and utilise college systems for learning support.
* Champion inclusivity within the department, mentor colleagues, and model inclusive practice in classrooms/workspaces.
* Develop a collaborative approach to planning, preparation and resource adaptation for learning support mentors to help all students reach their potential, including those with high needs.
What we are looking for
* Clear leadership qualities with readiness for a new challenge in the Supported Learning leadership team.
* Strong understanding of special educational needs, ability to work with students, families, professionals and stakeholders.
* High-level pedagogic practice and ability to inspire others around inclusion and the learner journey audits.
* Experience in developing curriculum opportunities within the department and collaborating with stakeholders to support the SEND agenda.
* Experience of internal quality assurance for accredited and non-accredited programmes; ability to coordinate with exams, student records and MIS to ensure accurate records.
* Extensive experience in a discrete or specialist SEND department post-16, with strong relationship management, HR policy familiarity, staff wellbeing, and implementing reasonable adjustments to promote inclusion.
