The Role We are seeking motivated and hard-working individuals to join our team as a Welding Apprentice. Successful applicants will gain the opportunity to join our outstanding team, and be trained in all aspects of fabrication including: Adhering to all Company Health, Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures. Reading and understanding Weld Procedures relevant to the task. Ensuring all Welds are within the limits of the verified procedure. Cleaning the Weld, ready for inspection. Maintaining the Housekeeping of your working area. Using overhead Cranes and Mobile Elevated Platforms where trained to do so. You will be working for one of the largest fabrication projects in the UK, for a prestigious customer. Qualifications Required 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above which must include Maths and English Language. Please provide all your grades and in what subject in your CV. Personal Qualities Keen and eager to learn. Self-motivated. Punctual and reliable. Diligent and committed. Good communication skills. RATES OF PAY The Pay Rate Structure is as follows (dependant on entry level, rates of pay are subject to the general pay review; as well as progression review): Year 1- Full time college only £6.60 Year 2- £11.44 Year 3- £14.26 Year 4-£16.96 HOURS OF WORK Initially you will attend Hartlepool College based on their learning hours. Once on site at the Company, you will be working: Monday- Friday 0700 hrs 1500 hrs BENEFITS 23 days Holiday plus statutory, rising to 25 days based on service. Life Insurance. WHAT TRAINING WILL THE APPRENTICE TAKE AND WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL THE APPRENTICE GET AT THE END? You will attend Hartlepool College of Further Education. Dependent upon entry level initially fulltime and thereafter day release. After Successful completion of the programme, this will lead to a Level 3 Apprenticeship under the Plate Welder Standard. WHAT IS THE EXPECTED CAREER PROGRESSION AFTER THIS APPRENTICESHIP? On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity for employment and career progression as a Welder. The current salary for a Welder being £40,111 (plus the opportunity for overtime). During the Apprenticeship (and if successful thereafter), there is continuous development within your trade; to meet the specific needs of our customer. Further training will be required such as (the use of mobile cranes, mobile elevated platforms, and confined spaces), as you progress. For some, there will be the opportunity to progress on other career paths within the business.
