The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer looking to progress their career while working on a diverse range of projects across sectors including education, commercial, retail, industrial, and leisure.
Working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary consultancy environment, you will gain exposure to a broad variety of projects and clients. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in designing building services systems that help buildings operate efficiently, sustainably, and safely.
Key Responsibilities
Work as part of a design team delivering detailed mechanical building services designs.
Liaise closely with internal and external project teams, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors.
Attend project and technical meetings.
Ensure designs comply with current legislation, regulations, and health and safety requirements.
Advise clients and project teams on energy efficiency, sustainability, and carbon reduction strategies.
Design site-specific mechanical systems and equipment.
Support and oversee the installation of building services systems.
Specify maintenance and operational requirements for completed designs.
Use industry-standard software, including CAD and BIM (Revit), to develop and coordinate designs.
Carry out condition surveys and prepare technical reports with recommendations.
About You
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable individual who is keen to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking engineering consultancy.
Essential Requirements
Degree-qualified (or higher) in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Proven experience in a Mechanical Building Services Design role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to clients and project teams.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Proactive approach to work, with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
Desirable Requirements
Working towards Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional institution.
Experience using industry-standard software such as IES, Hevacomp, AutoCAD, and Revit.
Knowledge of sustainable design principles and low-carbon building services solutions.
