Are you an experienced and motivated purchasing professional with experience working in the transport infrastructure industry? Octavius are looking for a Senior Buyer to join the team to help deliver projects across the country.
We are a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.
Responsibilities
* Work alongside the existing Buying team for the procurement of Site Materials in a cost-effective and timely manner.
* Support the Procurement strategy with the procurement of materials from approved and capable suppliers.
* Resolve supplier disputes and liaise with delivery teams as needed.
* Transact orders on COINS with suppliers daily. Maintaining good communication with site teams to ensure timely supply deliveries.
* Liaise with Site teams and Suppliers to maintain good supplier performance and resolve any issues promptly.
* Ensure supplies are sourced from approved suppliers at the right commercial pricing with high-quality plant to meet our needs.
* Resolve any supplier invoicing or performance issues promptly to improve payment performance or service delivery, raising any critical issues with the Head of Supply Chain.
* Attend supplier meetings and/or site meetings as needed.
* Maintain and grow knowledge of Materials supplies, product trends, and innovation to support our business needs.

About You
* Comprehensive knowledge of civil engineering and highways/rail sectors.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
* Excellent communication skills, comfortable building strong internal and external relationships.
* Proficiency in using IT, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Ability to resolve supplier disputes and liaise with delivery teams efficiently.
* Knowledge of people management (desirable).
* Familiarity with the COINS IT system (desirable).
You’ll Bring
* Practical experience as a Senior Buyer in a civil engineering environment.
* Degree or HNC/HND minimum in Civil Engineering and/or Purchasing or equivalent qualification/experience in a similar purchasing role.
* CIPS qualified would be advantageous.
