Job Description

The post holder will be the first point of contact for all service users, including carers and GPs. Responsibilities include making appointments, handling screening queries, and ensuring effective communication and efficient management of the administrative pathway of the screening programme. This includes booking screening appointments, managing clinics, and monitoring all patient and GP communications from the screening system, including dealing with onward referrals into Ophthalmology following failsafe procedures.
Work with the failsafe officer to implement existing failsafe procedures and contribute to new and updated guidance. Monitor all patients from invitation to referral as they progress through the screening pathway, updating all relevant databases to track breaches.
Build and maintain relationships within referral centres to facilitate smooth data exchange and pathway updates.
Assist in collating and producing statistical reports using the screening software's reporting systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify barriers to screening using reports and screening data.
* Recognize trends in demographic uptake.
* Use judgment when communicating with service users requiring encouragement to engage.
* Monitor referral timelines and act appropriately when breaches occur.
* Respond professionally and confidentially to enquiries from patients, carers, and stakeholders, using empathy and sensitivity.
* Handle all queries with professionalism and confidentiality, especially where understanding barriers is concerned.
* Present data effectively using Microsoft Office tools.
* Monitor referral pathways and request feedback data from referral centres via failsafe reporting tools.
* Ensure no patient is lost to follow-up in hospital eye services.
* Serve as the point of contact for all service users.
* Manage the appointment system, ensure clinic capacity, and handle daily queries.
Update patient notes accurately and work with Failsafe Officers to address any breaches.
