We're recruiting on behalf of the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) for an Asset Governance Officer within the Fleet & Logistics Department, supporting asset management and governance across the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing, customer-focused team responsible for ensuring the effective management, tracking and compliance of fleet, operational equipment, specialist PPE and uniform assets across NIFRS. The Role Working as part of the Regional Service Support Centre Business Unit, you will: Create, issue, track and archive all fleet, equipment and specialist PPE assets throughout the full lifecycle, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and governance requirements. Manage all PPE laundry and maintenance processes, resolving operational queries and ensuring all items meet legislative and safety standards. Organise specialist PPE fitting for new operational recruits, coordinating with Supplies & Logistics, Resourcing and new entrants. Ensure all operational vehicles have valid VED, MOT and PSV certification, booking and scheduling tests to maximise serviceability and compliance. Manage vehicle bookings, asset changeovers and pool vehicle allocation to ensure smooth operational support. Process and audit all fuel usage across NIFRS, resolving discrepancies and maintaining accurate MIS records. Use technical data to investigate PPE, equipment, fuel and asset-related issues, escalating concerns where required. Act as Subject Matter Expert for asset governance, providing advice to senior managers, officers and stakeholders. Manage and maintain the Stock & Asset Management MIS, ensuring accurate creation, movement and archiving of assets. Produce complex reports, run audits and ensure PPE, vehicle and equipment assets meet compliance and end-of-life requirements. Manage end-of-life asset disposal, ensuring financial reconciliation and updating fixed asset records. Supervise and train new team members, providing MIS expertise and ongoing support. Support investigations, audits, KPI tracking and service improvement initiatives across the Regional Service Support Centre. Maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, supporting contract management, supplier liaison and service delivery. You will play a critical role in ensuring NIFRS assets are compliant, safe, traceable and operationally ready, supporting high-quality service delivery across the organisation. Key Requirements Qualifications & Experience: Applicants must meet one of the following pathways: A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and at least 2 years' experience in a demanding office environment including MIS and Asset Management; A HND (or equivalent) and at least 3 years' relevant experience; Three A-levels at grade C or above (or equivalent) and at least 5 years' relevant experience. Skills: Must be able to demonstrate: Excellent planning, organisation and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships. IT Skills: Competent in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Other Requirements: A valid driving licence and access to transport suitable for business use is required.
